The art of getting lost

SHARE
Suzanne Moore whom I always enjoy while rarely agreeing with her is right about a child's right to get lost

Knowing the way is cleverness but getting lost is the beginning of wisdom.

I met someone recently whose parents when he was a child used to make him get out of the car far from home and find his own way home to teach him self-reliance. I wish my parents had done this.

Ruth Dudley Ellis told me that Richard Branson's mother punished him when he was four by turfing him out of the car and making him walk home.

I am sure it made him what he is today but I believe his brother has never been found.
