White convert in Muslim terror plot

Another white English Muslim convert is arrested and charged with plotting to massacre innocent people in England. Derek Turner said this was 'a failure of aesthetics'- an expression I liked.

White converts see in Islam a living culture and faith in God that white England lacks. Once they might have become Catholics or Communists but those two faiths seem to have temporised with the modern world.

There is a wonderful film or book here - about heroism, treason, wickedness, silliness, idealism, youth, farce, murder. I wonder if they were going to risk their own lives. Probably.

Life to be sure is nothing much to lose,

But young men think it is and we were young.

This sentence from the news report seemed to belong to satire, to the writings of Evelyn Waugh or Michael Wharton:

Neighbours in Stratford said one of the brothers [arrested] was Jahangir Alom, 26, who served as a former Metropolitan community support officer between May 2007 and September 2009.

Everything these days seems to have been written by Michael Wharton. He never made me laugh but neither do the stories in the press that sound like he invented them.
