British Muslims behead British soldier in London street

SHARE

Radical Islam does not exist because Islam is, by definition, radical.

"Like the Roman, I seem to see 'the River Tiber foaming with much blood' ".
Enoch Powell, 1968

That this isn't going to last,/ That before I snuff it, the whole/ Boiling will be bricked in/ Except for the tourist parts... And that will be England gone." Philip Larkin, "Going, going", 1972

"To those offended by my describing the attacker as of "Muslim appearance" - I was directly quoting a Whitehall source quoting the police." Tweet by Nick Robinson of the BBC, last night

"Exclusive: A cub scout leader confronted terrorists just seconds after they had beheaded a soldier asking them to hand over their weapons and warning them: "It is only you versus many people, you are going to lose." " Daily Telegraph headline today

The men who beheaded and tried to disembowel a soldier on the streets of Woolwich, South London, were swivel-eyed loons. Two
black, Muslim men, British subjects, were arrested. The murder makes one feel England is in terrible straits but this wonderful heroic story restores one's faith in England and human nature.

Victim: Drummer Lee Rigby

Yet instead of being angry with the jihadists, very many English people are alarmed because the right-wing English Defence League were allowed a fifteen minute demonstration in the area, by the grace and favour of the Metropolitan police. How much the liberal middle class fears the lower orders.

People say we should understand Islamists, put it in the context of Afghanistan or drones but why does no-one want to understand the EDL or put them in context? They have not killed anyone. They, like football hooligans, are in fact the kind of rather dangerous men who fought at Agincourt or Waterloo. The kind of men of whom Wellington said, 'I do not know what they do to the enemy but by God they frighten me.' They are the kind of men who made the British Empire, though this does not commend them to the people who think they are not a lot better than Al Qaeda (and plenty of English people do think exactly that).

My nicer Facebook friends seem more worried about an anti-Muslim backlash and the EDL than by jihadists. I hope this is a misunderstanding on my part. The repulsive Nick Griffin of the fascist BNP not unreasonably said this was a consequence of mass immigration. Actually, however, it now turns out that the suspects were converts to Islam. White converts to Islam have committed comparable or even worse atrocities. So it is not about immigration or, rather, it is but only indirectly. The men were radicalised by British imams, we are told.

Journalists and politicians hurry to say this had nothing to do with Islam or British foreign policy when clearly it had everything to do with these two things. Everyone hoped for calm but much as I believe in sang froid, a French phrase for an English thing, and much as I do not want any violence or law breaking or victimisation of Muslims I think calm would be worrying. People should be angry and should demonstrate in the street.

This and the Boston bombing are the new terrorism which has morphed yet again. The IRA did not explode bombs on trains because they feared how the British Government would respond  The way in which the US Government did respond to September 11 helped the terrorists. There is no way to respond to this new kind of terrorism, unfortunately, but the Guardian and the BBC think it can be done by preventing 'youths' from being radicalised. They do not understand human nature at all and believe young men are basically peaceful and good.

Meanwhile, Muslims riot in Stockholm for a fourth night. The British press does not report that they are Muslims and blames the riots on unemployment and racism.

Later..

Mark Steyn is not on his usual high standard here but I link to it because Sir Simon Jenkins cannot be pilloried enough for his disgraceful article calling for calm after this 'mundane' attack. Even Dan Hodges could not accept this. Calm is a good thing but so it righteous indignation and patriotic outrage. This article about the Koran's teaching on killing is very interesting, by Robert Spencer.

  1. Think the actual quote is:

""As Lord Chesterfield said of the generals of his day, 'I only hope that when the enemy reads the list of their names, he trembles as I do.'"

  2. well said and true. Without these men England would never have won at Crecy, Agincourt, Waterloo, nor would they have stood up to Philip's Armada. Rough and menacing they are the type of fighting men kings relied on to secure a victory

  5. Absolutely not true. Islam and Christianity must live together in peace, both allies against the modern world.

  6. Why do Americans say things like that? Even nice Americans.

  7. Because I love people, even those who hate us. I would wish that they would convert to the truth. If I were from Mars and know what I know I would come to the same conclusion.

    1. Ah yes of course I want every Muslim to convert to Christianity. It would make the world a much better place apart from spiritual considerations from the sublunar, political point of view.

  8. My hero in this regard is St. Anthony of Padua. I'll take his approach in this issue. BTW Why so slow? I thought you wanted quick responses.

  9. Well, here's my last response for now. I must run. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=451096311648373&set=a.451096261648378.1073742084.234080043350002&type=1&theater

  10. P.V.E., I agree with nearly to the enth all you've said and all
comments except lauffer. Oh and I'm an American.
Screaming " Islamic Terrorists" in a crowded world is as bad as
Screaming "Fire" in a crowded theater if someone lights a cigarette. One billion + Muslims are not terrorists. The remainder are or collaborate and aid them. As long as the West
and Israel wage hugely disproportionate wars on the Islamic
World new terrorists are created. Islam will gain power in numbers through "the wombs of their women" as has been said.
In the meanwhile White Europeans are of course diminishing in
numbers and power already taken from them through ever more
laws of restriction. There is presently a proposal in the
European Parliament introduced by the Austrian Hannes Swoboda
group declaring parties that "do not respect European values"
will be "fined". Further, parties that do not respect etc
such as "Right Radicals" and "Anti-Foreign" will be prevented entry into parliament.

  11. These European values frighten me very much. These values include things few or no-one believed in when the EEC was founded.

  12. annely, Do you mean that you oppose the conversion to Christ of people who want to kill us? Do you mean you despise St. Anthony of Padua? Perhaps you mean that you don't like women so that they should be defenseless in the face of people who might wish to kil them? Perhaps you could clarify your disdain.

  13. this incident is but a tiny symbolic price for britain being a world colonial/imperial master

    assume responsability !

  14. Tell that to the murder victim's mother. The British Empire did a huge amount of good. More than the Roman Empire did.

    1. I very much agree with this. I do wonder why Africa no matter what anyone does or doesn't do remains mired in the stone age. I suppose that's alright but the frequent starvation episode don't seem so nice.

    2. Nothing against (British) colonial/imperial dominance. Let the fittest triumph ! However, in this case, don't complain for some tiny loss and don't play the victim. You Brits have lost the art of plain language, which you used to cultivate in the good old times of the Empire.
You cannot make an omelet without breaking eggs. Historicaly, the rate "their deads/your deads" should be moving around 1000 or even 10000. Not so bad. Stay to your war. Assume it and don't come with this shabby rethoric of self-victimization. Political correctness has killed the good old war rethoric.

  17. carson lauffer, I do not oppose conversion to Christ. Some report nearly one million Muslim conversions to Christianity
each year. I do not despise or disdain any of those who you asked if I do. I disagreed with you only because I thought the
particular comment you made, "either we end Islam or Islam ends
    us." is unrealistic.

    1. Of course it's unrealistic. That is why we will be overwhelmed.

    2. This is very silly. Islam and Christianity will live together. British Muslims fought loyally for King George V against the Caliph (the Ottoman Sultan who was allied to Germany) in the First World War.
