The future of whole states in the Middle East is in doubt

The feeling that the future of whole states is in doubt is growing across the Middle East – for the first time since Britain and France carved up the remains of the Ottoman Empire after the First World War.

Here is a very interesting analysis of the war in Syria, by Patrick Cockburn. We are told Assad is about to fall but he is not. We were told untruths about Libya too, not to mention Iraq.

  1. I just read an article that says the outcome of this chaos and instability will be the return of the Ottoman Empire. Hm.
