"You only know what happiness is once you're married. But then it's too late." Peter Sellers

"[T]he strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone." Henrik Ibsen

Some see balloons and think, "Ah, bless, symbol of airy hopes/dreams". I think "Look at that garish, non-biodegradable plastic litter". Derek Turner

  1. I enjoyed your third quote. I'll add to my quote journal!

If not too gauche, I'll add a humorous one from an american animated TV show. It may be a bit more apropos of your later posting.

"Society's never going to make any progress until we all learn to pretend to like each other. Now let's go over and welcome those hideous strangers." Leela

    1. Thought provoking quotation. Progress comes at a price. The more people are relaxed and welcoming to immigrants, which is a good thing, the more the government is relaxed about letting more immigrants come - and this is not necessarily a good thing.

    2. Balloons for me are a symbol of airy hopes/dreams. I am that sort of person. In fact I hadn't thought of the environmental point. Perhaps I'll now think differently.
