Romanians disapprove of homosexual civil partnerships and see Muslim immigration as a threat

According to a survey conducted by the Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy (IRES), almost 70% of Romanians don't agree with single-sex marriage. I find this astonishing because I recently read that the figure is 96%, which sounds much more likely to me. 60% disagree with the idea of same-sex civil partnerships. Over 60% think Muslims are potentially dangerous and 52% believe immigrants should be stopped at the borders of Europe.

Six in ten Romanians would not want to have a homosexual relative and 29% would not want a gypsy in the family. 74% don't trust homosexuals, and 72% don't trust gypsies. Then the following proportions distrust: Immigrants (69%), Muslims (68%), people of a different religion (58%), Hungarians (53%) and Jews (46%).

35.5% think George Soros is a character who harmed Romania, which is the present government's view.

But within twenty years Romania will legalise homosexual marriage.

Twenty years ago the people of every single country on Earth opposed homosexual marriage. Now the entire West not only supports the idea, they celebrate it. A decade ago the majority of the population of California (California!) opposed homosexual marriage. So in fact it may not even take twenty years for Romania to fall into line.

Eastern Europe will follow western Europe on the path to self-destruction.

  2. I doubt the figure is 96% considering the young generation.
