Why have 5 British Prime Ministers in succession have not been up to the job?

No British PMs were absolutely not up to the job till Mrs May - from 2016 onwards none of them have been.

Balfour, Macdonald, Eden, Major and Brown were bad but not useless like the recent ones. North and Chamberlain were pretty good or would have been at any other time.

The problem therefore is with the people who go into politics or the way PMs emerge or maybe the country is going through a period of sharp national decline overall.

Maybe it's because Messrs Clinton and Blair had the effect on politics of Agent Orange. I think this is the truth.

Politics has become a barren argument and, even after Brexit, British politicians don't have much power and people thinking of a political career know it.
