Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson thinks over 1.5 million Ukrainian military died in action as opposed to fewer than 227,000 on the Russian side

In this podcast, entitled "This Doesn't Add Up About Ukraine War Casualties...", using his skills acquired in the CIA for finding correct information (as opposed to inventing disinformation) Larry Johnson disputed Western media reports and estimated:

Ukrainian Military Killed in Action (KIA): Over 1.5 million deaths.

Russian Military Killed in Action (KIA): ~227,000 deaths.

He claims that the body repatriation data show that for every one dead Russian soldier returned 35 to 39 Ukrainian bodies were returned.

He relies on the open-source data tracked by Mediazona (which searches public records and obituaries).

I don't know if he is right but respect him and think it very possible. 

I did not trust Douglas Macgregor's figures that in late 2023 that Ukraine had suffered 400,000 killed in battle and by late 2024 a million, for which he gave no sources except airily 'obituaries', but if Larry Johnson was right so was Colonel Macgregor. 

No figures from any country are reliable, least of all the British Ministry of Defence.

Last month British intelligence placed Russian deaths between 450,000 and 500,000 and the former Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli estimated that 150,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since Russia invaded in 2022.
