Marco Rubio complains that Iran spends money on weapons rather than on building roads, even though the U.S. does the same.
“Every dollar and every penny that that regime gets, they don’t spend it on roads or bridges or helping improve the lives of the Iranian people. They spend that money on Hezbollah and Hamas and militias that fire rockets out of Iraq and the Houthis. They should have spent their money on their people, and instead they spend their money on terrorism and on weapons."
Since the United States has threatened to bomb Iran into the Stone Age, weapons are something Iran needs, I'd say.
Unlike Iran the USA uses its weapons on the other side of the world, not to defend itself or even its interests. The US launched, without any provocation, the present war with Iran. The Israelis who persuaded the US to do this hoped it would lead to the splitting up of Iran altogether yet little Marco complains that Iran wastes money on weapons.
Does his American audience notice this?
