Especially with himself as de facto president.dfordoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02306293859869179118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891289711377156224.post-56461238251136929452019-08-31T21:43:42.722+03:002019-08-31T21:43:42.722+03:00What implications do you have in mind? What implications do you have in mind?Political Refugee from the Global Villagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03523068770529814044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891289711377156224.post-76023123127906540862019-08-31T05:14:08.902+03:002019-08-31T05:14:08.902+03:00The most fundamental rule of English and Scotch la...The most fundamental rule of English and Scotch law is that the Queen can do no wrong

I have some sympathy for that view. She is Queen by the Grace of God and is therefore above the law.

But it is extraordinary that in the 21st century we are seeing a reassertion of the principle that ultimate power rests, not just in principle but in practice, in the hands of the Queen anointed by God. It's an overturning of the entire liberal project.

What I'm wondering is whether Leavers understand all the implications of this. Does Boris Johnson understand the implications? I fear that he does.dfordoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02306293859869179118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891289711377156224.post-42222336429515098332019-08-30T11:06:42.046+03:002019-08-30T11:06:42.046+03:00I wrote on 25 July: "Boris should prorogue Pa...I wrote on 25 July: "Boris should prorogue Parliament before the recess ends in September until 1 November. That way no deal happens automatically unless the EU offers an acceptable deal.
