A friend commented: Belgium is a much underrated country (Flanders anyway). Some nice architecture, good food, good beer, easy to travel round because it is so small.
I replied: I suppose so. I visited it often a few years ago. A British diplomat told me living in Belgium is like living in an unhappy marriage. I don't know why but I love Frenchness and I don't love Dutchness. Too cutsey, perhaps.
