British public opinion poll: two thirds think Israel should call a ceasefire

SHARE
A recent You Gov poll of opinion in the UK shows that 69% think Israel should stop and call a ceasefire at the current time, about the same as the 66% who said so in February, whereas only 13% think Israel should continue to take military action – a figure unchanged from three months ago.

This is a very big contrast with the view of the British government and Conservative press and the opposition Labour Party.

In April British respondents were asked: In the long term, which country do you think is the biggest threat to global peace? 'In the long term', said Lord Keynes (who was childless like AJ Balfour), 'we are all dead', but in the medium to long term I'd vote for the United States or, while Netanyahu or the Likud are in power, Israel.

  1. By the way, what an argument Israel is against proportional representation.

  2. A slightly different kind of poll, but interesting that the U.K. public nonetheless gave 12 points to Israel at Eurovision on Saturday.
