Ulrike Guérot wants Europe to be one country, which ain't ever going to happen, but she wants it to be a free and democratic one which is even more impossible

Europe will not become a democracy because it will not have a demos. This is the reason a European single state will not happen.

If only Austria Hungary had survived but that was an empire that became democratic, not a group of democracies that sacrificed their sovereignty for rule by soviets in the true sense of the word soviets, committees.

Dr. Ulrike Guérot has now to my astonishment become one of my absolute favourites on the podcast Neutrality Studies. She argues that the European Union is succumbing to a "war psychosis" and that Europe has sacrificed its economic security and political sovereignty by cutting ties with Russia, while people who disagree are silenced in various ways.

She says that the USA and Israel are an "axis of global military power abuse" and their power is coming to an end.

All that's wonderful but many of her views are diametrically opposed to mine.

I recently reread an article I wrote about her some years ago that I think you should read if you didn't.

She sees the European Union as the solution to the German Question.
Her internationalism is very German. Just as France's is French - she wants a surrogate for the Napoleonic system and la gloire.

Everyone when he thinks about the EU has national reasons for his views.

European man does not exist, any more than the New Soviet Man did. Frenchmen, Germans, Romanians do.

  1. People who are pro-Russia get plenty of air for their views and some are doing well in elections.

Lots of Russians want to go to Europe, but not many Europeans want to go to Russia. Voting with the feet tells you a lot.
