Trinity College, Dublin fined its students' union €214,000 over the protests, to cover the loss of revenues from visitors who come to see the Book of Kells.
Karl White tells me rhat the Book of Kells was available in the 17th century for borrowing by students against a surety of £3 10s.
I don't know. Someone found a first edition of Mill's 'On Liberty' on the shelves of the library where I work a while back. It was withdrawn to collections.
