The Iran Contra scandal which led to North going to prison involved the Reagan administration secretly persuading Israel to pass military equipment to Iran. 

Only when the Cold War ended did Israel demonise Iran and use the Iranian threat as a means to keep the Americans supporting Israel. Israel then started to believe its own propaganda and the consequences have been fateful for the world.

    After the scandal became public in 1986 (triggered by the downing of a CIA-linked plane over Nicaragua), Jeffrey Epstein assisted retail magnate Leslie Wexner in relocating aircraft from Southern Air Transport (SAT)—a CIA proprietary airline used for smuggling weapons to Iran and the Contras—from Miami, Florida, to Columbus, Ohio, in 1996. Under Epstein's stewardship as Wexner's financial advisor, these planes were repurposed from arms transport to shipping lingerie and clothing for Wexner's brands, such as Victoria's Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch.

    This move occurred amid investigations into SAT's role in the scandal, including its involvement in cocaine trafficking tied to Contra funding.

    Epstein maintained a close friendship and business relationship with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who headed Israel's military intelligence (AMAN) from 1983 to 1985 during the planning phases of Iran-Contra. Barak supervised the CIA's first arms delivery to Iran via Israel.
