Trump said Iceland 4 times in his speech when he meant Greenland.
When he told the Norwegian PM that he would be less peaceable having not been given Nobel Peace Prize and would need Greenland was he confusing Norway and Denmark?

Trump lies saying Iran was 2 months away from having the atom bomb when he attacked. Tulsi Gabbard has said the CIA told her there was no danger of it happening.
In 1917, I believe that Denmark sold the Virgin Islands to the United States. Therefore, there is precedent for such transactions.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Denmark has always treated Greenland as a colony, and it has been quite harsh, if not cruel, towards it. However, this is a different matter, and it is unlikely to be of interest to anyone at the moment. However, it is certainly not our concern. I believe that they will sort it out among themselves.

As an Englishman I am very comfortable with colonies and akways thought Denmark was foolish to sell the Virgin Islands. I only learnt recently that the colony planted by Erik the Red in Greenland disappeared - no doubt the Norsemen were killed by the Eskimos. Since retaking rhe island in the 18th century the Danes were not great rulers but nowadays much better to Eskimos than the Americans are to Red Indians or than the Russians to their equivalents.

DeleteMy prediction is that Denmark will sell and use the money to buy American weapons for Ukraine.
