"Whereas people of faith tend to accept the natural world, those who profess a material view often go to war with it. Such discontent has proved of great value to successive political movements that have promised to transform everything, from society to gender."
Toby Guise
"The positive testimony of history is that the State invariably had its origin in conquest and confiscation. No primitive State known to history originated in any other manner."
Albert Jay Nock
“Read 500 pages…every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.”
Warren Buffett.
"These days, I also get to visit interesting places, meet with scientists, and watch a lot of lectures online. But reading is still the main way that I both learn new things and test my understanding."
Bill Gates
“If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals — if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.”

Modern neo-Nazis face a logical problem: how to reconcile their beliefs in white superiority & white defeat? How can both be true?

When I think of the last 2 millennia in Europe and it's cultural sphere, I see the state having started from within the Church, it then progressed to the absolute monarchy (validated by the church), it continued with the tremendous effort and intellectual struggle to detach itself from the church (the basis of liberalism), probably completed around the first WW, and now it is in the process of taking control of what we call the 'economy', which is nothing but people's work and the outcome of their work. The communist experiment failed, as it was too bloody and thus unsustainable. Will the Neo-Marxists succeed? If so what will come after, provided the socialist state will hold? The quest for the state to become the absolute Church/religion? The complete cycle.
ReplyDeleteThis is Europe. The USA had a slightly different path: it started with the Republic, something Europe has been quite estranged from, for a long time. Alas this seems to be of no consequence at the moment.
