American Catholics have raised $36,100 scholarship fund for the boy from Covington

American Catholics have raised $36,100 for a scholarship fund for the boy from Covington Catholic School, who was the target of a lot of very harsh words for allegedly smirking at an American Indian at a Pro-Life march in Washington D.C., and his brothers.

I wonder what the two bishops who condemned the boys think. One of them has still not apologised. That's the Bishop of Lexington, the Rt Revd. John Stowe, who said:

“It astonishes me that any students participating in a pro-life activity on behalf of their school and their Catholic faith could be wearing apparel sporting the slogans of a president who denigrates the lives of immigrants, refugees and people from countries that he describes with indecent words and haphazardly endangers with life-threatening policies."
If the bishop thinks that supporting Mr Trump is a sin he should say so outright.

Father Dan Horan, who is an assistant professor of systematic theology and spirituality at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and writes a column for the National Catholic Reporter, has not publicly apologised for saying
“I'm so deeply appalled and disgusted by the racist, shameful, disrespectful behavior of the Catholic high school students wearing MAGA hats and harassing a Native American elder and Vietnam Vet. I'm so angry and yet not at all surprised at pervasive white supremacy exhibited. Just one of many reasons I find the so-called "march for life" often repulsive and futile: It's basically a gathering for many right-wing anti-abortion hardliners (not consistent ethic of life, i.e. true pro-lifers) and teens to get a free trip to goof off (at best) in DC.”

Father Edward Beck, a CNN contributor, also remains critical of the boys even after viewing the videos.

"The boys acted inappropriately and chaperones should have intervened. And boys should not have been permitted to wear MAGA hats if they were representing the school.”

Clearly the American Catholic Church is very divided and her divisions mirror those of Americans over Donald Trump. It is pretty clear which side the Pope is on.

  1. Bishop Stowe is this weekend taking part in an 'LGBT retreat' and is sympathetic to 'LGBT pride' whose flag he has permitted to fly at a church in his diocese.

  2. Someone sent me this wonderful but very depressing article.

  3. Catholic priests prefer young boys to be submissive, surrendering and passive for obvious reasons.

The idea of men (especially white men) not acting like gerbils, sheep, or prey animals is frightening to them.

Uh oh, Danger! He's acting like a man - and he's happy about it, rather than ashamed!

Also why Catholic Priests love immigrants almost as much as little boys. The Catholic idea of civilisation is pedophile-priests presiding over quiescent Mestizo masses.
