Everything is different now

I was shocked, disgusted even, by the way Trump attacked Zelensky but just heard this interview in which left-wing journalist Max Blumenthal supports Trump 100%. I start to rethink. The Russians have not won and their cause was not just but yes we need peace very quickly and a neutral Ukraine. We did from the start. America is hugely to blame for this. So is the EU.

George Friedman is the best geopolitical analyst there is, even if he did publish a book in 1991 saying war between America and Japan was inevitable. Do listen to this. He is right that Russia has lost and is obviously right that there's no reason why America should defend Europe. He didn't vote for Trump but compares him to Franklin Roosevelt (not one of my favourite presidents) remaking America in a great hurry and the world. "I didn't think he was this smart but he is." He thinks China is overrated and weak militarily and economically.

Lord Skidelsky is one of our very best historians and quite unfairly demonised by the newspapers who implied he was pro-Putin. He is right in this article today, of course, unlike the bellicose Anglo-American establishment and unlike people who think Russia was justified in invading Ukraine.

We are given so very much misinformation. For example, a senior US State Department friend told me Nato was purely defensive, forgetting Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Libya. It was purely defensive but then after the cold war ended and it lost it's raison d'etre mission creep happened.
