America has done far more harm to the West than Russia ever did

SHARE
People of my generation feared Communist Russia or were supposed to. I wonder how many people in Western Europe feared Russia would invade the West. I certainly didn't, because I knew she was what Bismarck's Germany was after 1870, a satisfied power.

Now shallow thinkers fear post-communist Russia, but the country that has done most damage the world since about 1964 is the USA. The political and social revolution that began in America in around 1964 didn't end. It continued and took over America and the Western world.

It led directly to political correctness and all the horrors the whole world faces now.

Really? I usually accuse my fellow americans that think that the history only started in the '60's.

Who do you think are the inheritors of the sans cullotes and bolsheviks?

I don't think the perpetrators of the current madness are inheritors of the sans cullotes and bolsheviks. What we're seeing is something peculiarly American.

It has its roots in American Puritanism. It's a mixture of religious self-righteousness and Americans' bizarre attitudes towards sex. The fact that even BLM is dominated by the LGBT crowd, and the fact that Americans moved so quickly from tolerating sexual deviance to worshipping it, and to regarding sexual deviants as being peculiarly sacred, are signs that it's a combination of religion and sex that's behind it. Everything that appears to be political sooner or later comes down to sex.

They're not following the red flag, they're following the rainbow flag.

Only Americans could produce a Puritan strain of libertinism, which is what they've done. Just think about what a bizarre concept homosexual marriage is - sin turned into a sacrament.

The crazies taking to the streets today are religion fanatics rather than political extremists. They have no political programme. They have no understanding of politics.

  3. 'the country that has wrecked the world since 1964 is the USA'

"The economic depression that struck Europe in the fourteenth century was followed ultimately by economic and technological recovery. But the depression we have moved into will have no end. We can anticipate centuries of decline and exhaustion."

Jean Gimpel, historian of technology: The Medieval Machine, 1975

Gimpel liked to say that he lived between four cultures: those of France, England, the United States and the 13th century.

After detailed comparison of parallel developments in France between 1050 and 1265 and the United States between 1850 and 1953, he concluded that America had subsequently entered a period of terminal decline that would bring Western civilisation down with it.
These Cassandra-like warnings were amplified in his last book, The End of the Future.

Gimpel loved the stimulus of intelligent friends, especially female ones, and he and his wife Catherine held a Sunday afternoon salon several weeks of the year at their Chelsea Embankment flat.
