From a story in The Times.
'The next time the BBC director-general opens his inbox, he may well have received an email from “Huw Edwards, he/him”, or “Laura Kuenssberg, she/her”.
'The broadcaster is encouraging all staff to start including their pronouns in their email signatures, as part of a drive to make transgender and non-binary colleagues feel more welcome.'
O tempora, o mores!
The battle against the trans insanity should be the number one priority for social conservatives at the moment because it is the first culture war battle for years that is actually winnable. For the first time in decades social conservatives have a genuinely formidable and powerful potential ally - women. Not just a handful of women, but potentially most women.
ReplyDeleteThe trans thing is fundamentally anti-woman and it is genuinely misogynistic. It amounts to telling women that women are a joke. It amounts to telling women that their entire experience of being women is trivial and meaningless. If a bearded man in a frock can be regarded as a woman then the whole concept of being a woman is being mocked. It makes being a woman no more than a meaningless rôle-playing game.
The trans thing is also of course fundamentally anti-feminist.
But will social conservatives be smart enough to make the necessary alliance? It would mean allying themselves with old-school feminists and old-school lesbians (the ones who think they're actual women and want girlfriends who are actual women). Old-school lesbians are about to be purged from the Social Justice Left. They're also starting to realise that they're going to be purged from the LGBTqwerty alliance. In this situation the smart move by social conservatives would be to take the view that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. And the trans crowd are much more dangerous enemies to civilisation than old-school feminists and old-school lesbians.
Old-school feminists and old-school lesbians do have some huge advantages as allies - they actually know how to fight political battles and they actually understand that in the Culture War elections are entirely irrelevant.
But social conservatives will probably choose to lose once again rather than make such an alliance.
Just as conservative Christians will choose to lose once again rather than ally with Muslims.
