  2. If you have a high tolerance for juvenility, you can find the Thurn und Taxises (en?) as part of a conspiracy theory in Thomas Pynchon's first novel, The Crying of Lot Thirty-Nine. I'd like to say that I've forgotten the details to make room for more useful information, but really I've just forgotten the details. Actually, you could probably learn all about the novel from Wikipedia.
