Complaints about breaches of international law sound like empty words now

Timothy Garton-Ash said on tonight on BBC Radio 4's “Westminster Hour”: “Our continent of Europe is under attack militarily from Russia, economically from China and politically from the United States”. 

I dislike intensely the way Europe and the UK are American vassals but the attack on pseudo-European values by the Trump administration is for Europe's own good. 

As for Russia, this almost war with  Russia was caused by Americans and I'd love Europe to find a way to mend fences and be on good terms with Putin. 

Trading with China (and after a settlement is reached Russia) would help the economies of the UK and Europe and make Europe much freer of US control. 

European states must not get involved if American neo-cons try to cause a war over Taiwan, as Boris Johnson would have done.

The transformation of Europe by immigration and restrictions on freedom have happened incrementally over fifty years. So Western Europeans don't see it easily. Eastern Europeans do.

The Trump administration is right to see that Europe faces civilizational collapse.

What is happening in Iran is an attempt at yet another colour revolution. 

Israel is very heavily involved and probably the driving force. 

I hope it succeeds, now it is under way, despite the dangers. 

I suppose I do. My Persian doctor does but she is an exile. 

We none of us know enough.  And it is Iranians' business. 

Apparently Iran has in recent years become a terrorist threat to the UK, according to MI6. For the last quarter century it was Sunnis who were the terrorists. 

I am sad that it will be another victory for Netanyahu but a Middle East ruled by Israel will be calmer than one where Israeli dominance was obstinately contested.

Ron Paul and Larry Johnson think the attempted revolution has failed. 

All we can be sure of is that we cannot trust the Iranian government or Western governments.

Mr Trump's 'Donroe Doctrine' used by him to justify the abduction of Maduro means keeping countries from the Eastern hemisphere out of the Western hemisphere. 

It’s exactly the same logic that led Putin to invade Ukraine after repeated encroachments by America on what he considers Russia's sphere of influence. 

State Department friends think spheres of influence are immoral, but it's complicated.

The Romanian foreign minister is complained rightly about the Russian bombing of Ukraine last week. “The deliberate targeting of civilians constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and demonstrates Russia’s continued disregard for peace, security, and human life."

She said this as if Romania did not support Israel. 

Since her message President Trump told the New York Times yesterday that he does not obey international law, only his own sense of morality. 

Complaints about breaches of international law now sound like empty words. They just do.
