Likud Prime Ministers

Benjamin Netanyahu

“Terrorism is the deliberate, systematic murder, maiming and menacing of the innocent to inspire fear in order to gain political ends.” Speaking in
June, 1984 at a conference held by the Jonathan Institute, named after Benjamin Netanyahu’s older brother, who was killed in 1976 during the raid at Entebbe.

Yitzhak Shamir

“Neither Jewish ethics nor Jewish tradition can disqualify terrorism as a means of combat. We are very far from having any moral qualms as far as our national war goes. We have before us the command of the Torah, whose morality surpasses that of any other body of laws in the world: ‘Ye shall blot them out to the last man.’

"But first and foremost, terrorism is for us a part of the political battle being conducted under the present circumstances, and it has a great part to play: speaking in a clear voice to the whole world, as well as to our wretched brethren outside this land, it proclaims our war against the occupier."

In 1943. 'The occupier' means the British.

Menachem Begin

"" Palestinians! This is an unacceptable reference. Jews are also Palestinians. He must mean 'Palestinian Arabs'." I agree - I dislike the term Palestinian for this reason and refer usually to Arabs. He wanted to prevent Palestinian Arabs being considered as a people. Nation building has taken place among the Arabs since 1948.

"The Partition of Palestine is illegal. It will never be recognized .... Jerusalem was and will for ever be our capital. Eretz Israel will be restored to the people of Israel. All of it. And for Ever."
The quote comes from Irgun declarations in 1947/1948 opposing the UN decision to split Palestine into Arab and Jewish states." Eretz Yisrael" or the "Land of Israel" was part of the official Hebrew name of the whole of British Mandatory Palestine including Gaza Strip and the West Bank: the Hebrew transliteration of the word "Palestine" פלשתינה (Palestina) followed always by E.Y.

"Israel will not transfer Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza District to any foreign sovereign authority, [because] of the historic right of our nation to this land, [and] the needs of our national security, which demand a capability to defend our State and the lives of our citizens."

Ariel Sharon

"It is impossible to have a Jewish, democratic state and at the same time to control all of Eretz Israel. If we insist on fulfilling the dream in its entirety, we are liable to lose it all. Everything. That is where the extremist path takes us."
