This war is unpopular - half of British people oppose it and oppose the Americans using bases in the UK to attack Iran. 60 percent of Americans oppose it, which is less than before the war started when 80 percent did. Trump I feel has made a terrible mistake, though we cannot know if it was because he was blackmailed or bribed or is simply losing his political instinct and thought the murder of forty most powerful members of the government would lead to an uprising. 

No doubt he wanted to score a win as he did in Venezuela. Vanity is his besetting sin.
