Trump is now openly stating at the UN that the drug trade was not the reason he attacked Venezuela, but rather to stop other countries Russia and China from gaining a foothold in the Western Hemisphere:
“Our actions in Venezuela are proof that the United States will no longer permit threats to America to gain a foothold anywhere in the Western Hemisphere, and if necessary, we will use our unmatched military might to secure the vital national interests of the United States.”
State Department people still claim spheres of influence are no longer an acceptable idea.
Why are there still sanctions against Russia?
