Trump: 'The greatest threat to Western civilisation today is not Russia. It's probably more than anything else ourselves'

Donald Trump, in a three and a half minute video he posted on Thursday.

"Our foreign policy establishment keeps trying to pull the world into conflict with a nuclear-armed Russia based on the lie that Russia represents our greatest threat. But the greatest threat to Western civilization today is not Russia. It's probably more than anything else ourselves and some of the horrible, USA-hating people that represent us."

"It's the abolition of our national borders. It's the failure to police our own cities. It's the destruction of the rule of law from within. It's the collapse of the nuclear family and fertility rates, like nobody can believe is happening."

"It's the Marxists who would have us become a godless nation, worshipping at the altar of race and gender and environment. And it's the globalist class that has made us totally dependent on China and other foreign countries that basically hate us."

I agree with him but I think by now the US deep state may hate China more than vice versa.

America is certainly the biggest threat to Western civilisation, for so many reasons, but she does have some good things: belief in Christianity and in freedom, free speech and an exuberant right-wing that distrusts experts and the rich.

I lost my respect for Fiona Hill, the Anglo-American Russia expert who worked in the US State Department and who testified against Donald Trump in his first impeachment, when she said in the congressional hearing that 'globalist' is an antisemitic slur. She slightly redeemed herself by saying invading Afghanistan in 2001 was a mistake and that the Russians did not blow up the pipeline.

Trump is right but I rather suspect that if he is nominated Biden would win. That would be truly a disaster for the world.

  1. Many Americans prefer Biden over Trump. Incumbency also confers favorable prospects for the current president in US elections. Trump managed to be the exception to that rule -- he could have so easily won, but his poor judgment, unpleasant demeanor, and erratic campaign organization prevented that outcome.

  2. Trump, a delusional narcissist, loves only himself.

  3. Fiona Hill also concedes what is clear that Putin would not have invaded Ukraine had Trump been president.
