Alastair Crooke thinks Epstein was an important geopolitical player and an intelligence service in himself

'He was organizing geopolitics at a high level. I in my view I mean he was really not just a tool of Mossad. I think that's not correct. I think he was sort of an intelligence service in himself. He was a peer. He was acting. He was making a lot of money. Yes. And he was operating between
various people. But I think it's a mistake to sort of see him just simply
as nobody. He had enormous intelligence resources of his own. He could talk to
all sorts of people. I mean, we see in Britain, we've just seen how Mandelson was feeding him hugely market sensitive information which he could pass on to his friends, whether they were friends in the American financial system or other financial systems is immaterial. He had his own sources. Mandelson was just one of them. We know that there are probably many more.'
