Ian Proud: "No-one is discussing what will be [Europe's] relationship with Russia" after the war ends

He held a senior position at the British Embassy in Moscow. 

He points out in conversation with Glenn Diesen that Europe is in economic decline because it buys expensive American energy instead of cheap Russian fuel and if a revanchist Ukraine intensely hostile to Russia joins the European Union this may have huge consequences and could lead to another war. 

The EU may in any case become Nato lite.

Putin is right to play hardball. If he does not he will end up after a peace with another cold war.
