Hypocrisy is the sea in which propagandists swim

Journalists like Ruth Dudley Edwards and others describe Iran as evil but the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is much worse. Saudi Arabia massacres its Shia subjects, murdered Khashoggi and many others, does not permit practice of any religion but Mahometanism, has no elections. Admittedly both Iran and Iraq have recently become much less hardline but why does the British press fawn on the Saudis while beating the drums for war with Iran? 

It's a genuine question. 

Iran is no threat to Great Britain or Europe while the Saudis found Wahhabii mosques and were to blame for September 11th murders.

I suppose the answer is that NATO member states take orders from Washington.
