The mob has toppled a statue of a Bristol worthy who owned slaves and thrown it into the Bristol channel. If this were not enough the police approved of their action.
This is absolutely incredible. Even after Diana died England wasn't so insane and that is saying a lot.
I feel I am living in Paris in 1789.
All this is not an attack on the establishment but embodies the ideology of the establishment. The great majority (I hope) of English people who disapprove of throwing statues into the water are the ones who are considered dangerous.

ReplyDeleteI always assumed they existed in order to protect the interests of the ruling class. Which is exactly what they're doing. Nothing has changed. The police force has always been a political tool.
