Candace Owens: Floyd was not a good person and it's a lie that police kill black people because of their colour

Candace Owens is an African-American Republican vlogger

In this vlog she beautifully explodes the idea that Floyd was a good man.

To be honest I am surprised that she needs to do so, but she does.

She asks why her ethnic group is the only one in the USA which puts its criminals on pedestals. It is really worth spending 17 minutes on.

Of George Floyd, who went to prison five times for some horrible offences and was on drugs when arrested and carrying counterfeit banknotes, she says:

“George Floyd was not a good person. I don’t care who wants to spin that, I don’t care how CNN wants to make you think that he had just turned his life around.”

“The fact that he has been held up as a martyr sickens me.”

“Was he really going to turn things around? It’s just not true.”
Much more important than George Floyd's character, of course, is the fact that there is no reason whatsoever to imagine that white American police officers are killing black people because of their colour.

Yet there are many people who actually believe this and not only in the less intelligent 50% of Americans. Clever Americans whom I respect sort of think this.

As she says, the American left only cares about using black people to gain power.

It's a bit like the fall of the Bastille. It was a lie that the Bastille housed political prisoners. It was an old people's home. The old people were homeless after it fell. That's how it always is when progressives get worked up into a frenzy of indignation.

And yet every year the French, even the Catholics, celebrate this appalling crime. As the Americans celebrate their revolution which was also criminal and based on lies. So it goes.

  1. She seems sensible.

I have always supposed that what the mob was really after in storming the Bastille was the gunpowder and arms stored in it. Luckily, the mobs now rampaging around US cities do not seem to have turned their hands to armed revolution yet, looting some free stuff and destruction seem to be what they are after. Oddly, there were quite a few wine merchants in the crowd that stormed the Bastille. The past is another country.

    1. They didn't storm the Bastille to ctee prisoners. You are right about that. Your comment prompted me to pick up a history of the French revolution by one E. D. Bradby but is is old and dull and written for 'the young'. I shall read a better one but not Schama's. I want one written by a conservative.

    3. Reading 'The nation state and national self-determination' by Cobban, right now.

  2. find the revolution hard to explain, essentially inexplicable. It was the great disaster from which the other disasters flow.

  3. The Vichy government banned the celebrating of Bastille Day. No doubt it saw how much the French revolutionaries were like the Bolsheviks.

I agree. The problem is that American cops, regardless of race, are killing way too many people, of all races. It's not a problem of racism. It's a problem of militarised police forces composed of trigger-happy thugs.

And the answer is extremely simple. If a cop (of any race) kills someone (of any race) without justification that cop should be charged with murder one. A few death sentences imposed on the out-of-control elements in the police would solve the problem very quickly.

The police know that the laws of the land do not apply to them.

I agree with that as well.

It's amusing to see American right-wingers bemoaning the fact that their cities are being burnt by violent revolutionaries while they themselves worship the violent revolutionaries who created their wretched country.
